  • Essay / The Most Influential Rock Band in History - The Beatles

There were many rock and roll bands in the 20th century, but there certainly weren't any like the Beatles. How did four young teenagers from Liverpool become the most influential songwriters in history? How did they go from an underground rock and roll band to a global sensation? While the Beatles only lasted eight years as a group, it was enough to reshape the history of "Rock and Roll" music. Before long, in an isolated town just a few miles from London, Liverpool was about to see the birth of one of the most influential rock and roll bands in history. Liverpool is considered a port city by Londoners. After London, Liverpool was one of the most diverse cities in the United Kingdom, having a large Chinese population as well as many Irish Catholics, fleeing religious persecution. In fact, the ancestors of John, Paul and George's parents were Irish. During the Second World War, Liverpool fell on hard times, the city devastated by the Nazis. During 1941, they killed hundreds of people in less than a week, and by 1942, about 75 percent of the city was destroyed. The late 1940s are considered the Reconstruction era. On October 9, 1940, John Winston Lennon was born in Liverpool. He was raised in a working-class family. His father was a sailor, and during John's childhood he didn't see him very often. His mother Julia divorced him and sent John to live with his aunt "Mimi". His mother Julia remarried and visited John very often. During her visits she taught him to play the piano, later she found that John was very talented and bought him his first guitar. A shocking event that marked John's life forever (reflected in his song "Mother") occurred in 1958 when Julia was killed ... middle of paper ... and the group's closeness started to fade. During that year Ringo and George went to America and for the first time John and Paul recorded themselves. They wrote songs like Julia and Blackbird. Even though it was hard on the outside world, they seemed to be together inside, it was a completely different story. In early 1969, they released an album called “Yellow Submarine” as well as the cartoon. The Beatles could not accept everything as before and the group ended very quickly. The constant fighting between John and Paul as well as George began to become common ground. They were on their last album called "Let it be" and even though this album was recorded before "Abbey Road", it was the best recorded album they had released. In the end, they decided to go their separate ways and decided to do one last live performance on the roof of the Apple Corps building..
