  • Essay / Bodybuilding for strength and a healthy body - 777

Bodybuilding is a physical activity that involves gaining muscle mass and strength. It's a great way to stay fit and healthy, which is extremely important. In today's society, a large number of people do not engage in any physical activity, which is a major cause of obesity and other health problems. Weight lifting is an excellent form of exercise, and in doing so, individuals experience benefits such as reduced medical expenses, increased cardiovascular function, and increased bone strength. There is a correlation between obesity and medical expenses. A Cornell University study indicates that “obesity now accounts for nearly 21% of health care costs in the United States, more than double previous estimates” (1). This study found that an obese person receives about $3,000 more in medical bills than if they were at a healthy weight, which is a significant difference (Cornell 1). Obesity puts individuals at risk for a number of health problems such as heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, osteoarthritis, respiratory problems and many more. All these risks associated with obesity are responsible for the increased medical expenses of obese people. These health problems must be treated, which involves medications and surgeries, and these costs add up very quickly (Cornell 1). By lifting weights and staying physically fit, individuals avoid these complications and have significantly lower medical costs. Research from Cornell University uses new methods and attempts to provide a strong case to the government so that interventions can be implemented to prevent obesity (Cornell 1). Strength training is very effective when it comes to cardiovascular functions.... middle of article. .....to lose too much bone mass, so early prevention is key. This is why strength training and other physical activities should be integrated into everyone's daily routine, in order to prevent bone problems in the future. Strength training has been proven to be very beneficial for our body and our medical expenses. Individuals need to understand that not participating in physical activity has detrimental consequences on the body. When health problems arise, medical costs increase dramatically and many people cannot afford them. These health problems, such as stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, osteoarthritis and osteopenia, are risks associated with inactivity and, in today's society, they are much more widespread. By performing strength training exercises, these risks are reduced and individuals can lead healthier lives..
