New technologies allow more flexibility, an alternative when students miss classes, online revision of content (Gomis-Porqueras, P. et.al, 2011 ). Additionally, new technologies can enhance student learning depending on how the instructor uses the technology and the age of the students. An article by Susan O'Hara and Robert Pritchard states that student achievement is improving with technology. An example of improved scores is Project Reporter, in which sixth graders showed significant improvement in specific skills such as identifying the main idea, supporting details, and relating cause to effect (O’Hara & Pritchard, 20…). The article also discusses other studies that show improved literacy development when using a variety of technologies such as hypermedia, hypertext, images, videos, and audio clips. A list of other studies also shows improved student gains in the area of language development. According to the article Impact of Class Lecture Webcasting on Attendance and Leaning by Tomoko Traphagan, John V. Kucsera, and Kyoko Kishi, a discussion of several studies is presented. This indicates that student attendance decreased when webcast courses were available, but overall student performance did not show a significant difference compared to those without webcasting. These are college students (Traphagan, T. et.al, 2009). Students use webcasting to review material, especially before exams and if they have missed a day of class. The final results show that there is no significant difference in the performance of students with or without webcasting, and attendance decreased slightly for those with webcasting compared to those without webcasting (Traphagan, T. et. al. , 2009). .... middle of sheet ......content view and if they miss a class. Other multimedia such as PowerPoints can help visual learners but do not have a significant impact on general learners. Multimedia for young children appears to help them improve their literacy development, language acquisition, and mathematics, among others. However, digital tools still require competent teaching.
