Lack of civility at work can lead to lower job satisfaction, withdrawal from work, anxiety, reduced engagement, and more. (Prather, n.d.). Identifying the right patient is one of the crucial aspects of the healthcare professional's job as it is one of the 5 rights of medication administration and verbal verification is the best method to identify the patient. Another example of courtesy would be the IV therapist explaining what they were doing to the patient.
