Essay / Tenure, an important discipline for teachers Essay
Tenure is not an education problem; it is an important key to the quality of the teaching profession. Abolishing tenure will undermine teachers’ freedom as well as student learning. We must recognize the importance of the tenure system. Without tenure, the teaching profession does not diminish its ultimate role in American education, but “entire buildings full of teachers will lose the freedom to do their jobs well” (Greene). Without a mandate, no one will report or speak out when districts or states have a new policy that hurts America.
