Response to MetropolisMetropolis by Fritz Lang is a very powerful film with various underlying meanings that allow the viewer to determine for themselves. The film itself is extremely difficult and difficult to follow, although the essay "The Vampire and the Machine: Technology and Sexuality in Fritz Lang's Metropolis" written by Andreas Huyssen provided a lot of useful information to help understand the movie. Many of Huyssen's ideas are a bit extreme, but the attempt is nevertheless very beneficial. His extreme views include ideas about castration and its relationship to the female robot, as well as sexuality and its relationship to technology. Although these ideas are extreme, he also brings many interesting ideas. One of the issues raised is the idea of the relationship between femininity, technology and sexuality. The relationship between all these qualities is found in a single character, Maria.
