War Measures Act: The War Measures Act was a law passed in 1914 by the Canadian government in Canada during the First World War, among many others that the government had adopted and which allowed the government to take control. communications, establish censorship of transatlantic cables and organize the militia (Bolotta, Angelo et al. 39). During World War I (1914-1920), it had been used to imprison people of German, Ukrainian and Slavic origin, and it was similarly used during World War II (1939-1945) to imprison people of German, Ukrainian and Slavic origin. In both cases, those who were persecuted had no right to oppose (the war). These laws were created for the purpose of protecting Canadians from threats or wars to the security, defense, peace order and welfare of Canada. Instead, they significantly limited the rights and freedoms of Canadian citizens and degraded immigrants from enemy countries during World War I and World War II (Bolotta, Angelo et.
