This astonishing man, founder of sociology, Auguste Comte was born on January 19, 1798 in Paris, France. He grew up in the aftermath of the French Revolution, where society experienced violent conflict and feelings of alienation. He did not believe in religion or royalty, and because of the times he grew up in, he spent much of his time developing a philosophy for a new social order for whatever was happening. Auguste was born to Rosalie Boyer and Louis Comte, both monarchists and devout Roman Catholics. He attended the University of Montpellier and excelled in mathematics and science. Because he dropped out of school before graduating, he struggled to pay his bills and support himself economically. Comte lived in Parrris and made a good living teaching journalism and mathematics while wanting to learn more about the study of economics, history and philosophy.
