  • Essay / The Importance of Yoga in Education - 962

Over the past decade, yoga in primary and secondary schools has grown at a rapid pace in the United States and several other parts of the world . This is mainly due to the collaborative efforts of different children's yoga and mindfulness training organizations and some others who prove through research that yoga leads to academic achievement, positive behavior and well-being physical and mental of the students. This literature review will examine how yoga in education has evolved over the years. Attention problems have become a prevalent problem in schools over the years. They occur in varying degrees and are often diagnosed as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) – inattentive type. Over time, several interventions have been identified to address the difficulties of children suffering from these problems. They include behavior modification, cognitive-behavioral treatments (Abramowitz & O'Leary, 1991), and medications. Behavioral interventions, such as token reinforcement programs, contingency contracts, and response costs, are commonly used and have been shown to be effective in improving classroom behavior. (Barkley, 1990). Children with attention problems often respond well to these interventions because they provide frequent and immediate feedback, but also quickly lose their initial enthusiasm and teachers must constantly invent new techniques. Similarly, cognitive-behavioral interventions such as teaching children self-regulation and self-care have been shown to be effective, but are also relatively time-consuming and require considerable resources to implement. appropriate (Abramowitz & O'Leary). Stimulant drug treatment is another common intervention for children with severe attention problems. of paper ......ool, in order to relax after classes, improve their well-being and control their negative feelings. The authors concluded that yoga is suitable for children as an independent method of control. The most important point noted by the study is the importance of the qualification of the teacher to implement this technique with children. This brings us to the next study carried out on "The effect of yoga on academic performance in relation to stress", in 2009. From the two As part of previous studies carried out, the need to conduct the study among a larger population was evident. Researchers Amit Kauts and Neelam Sharma took this into account when they implemented their work on a much larger population of 800 students, 400 boys and 400 girls. A yoga module consisting of yoga asanas, pranayama, meditation and value orientation program was administered to the experimental group of children for 7 weeks.,
