    This stage of development was described by Piaget as the preoperative stage. Children at this stage are often between two and seven years old. Children at this stage begin to use symbolic thinking. Their reasoning skills also begin to develop. Cognitive development is also very important at this stage of a child's life (Feldman, 2011).
