    No one ever thought that a small country could create a controversy known throughout the world, but North Korea achieved this goal. The North Korean genocide left 2,000 dead the day before and these murders are due to starvation and beatings. Many people think that communism is better than a democracy, but it has its flaws. For example, North Korea is communist and whatever its leader's beliefs, the communist citizen must believe in them. What is happening and has happened is genocide. Japan was in the process of imperializing in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Korea was a Japanese colony. After World War II, the Japanese had to get rid of the colony. North Korea has become communist. South Korea wanted to be democratic. Later, North Korea crossed the 38th parallel and entered South Korea. The United States responded by asking the United Nations to help South Korea. The United Nations did so and pushed North Korea back so far that it touched the northern tip of China. China went to war to protect its borders. At the end of the war, they returned to where they were at the beginning. Neither side won. Between 1992 and 1995, North Korea did a lot of good things. It is said on BBC News Asia that North Korea got involved in the United Nations and agreed to freeze its nuclear weapons program where it did good, but then there was a huge flood which created a food shortage. It was also on BBC Asia. In 2002, BBC Asia reported that nuclear tension had increased in North Korea and the United States. The communist nation of North Korea controls the religious beliefs of its citizens, so they must believe in jushe, which means they must admire the North Korean leaders.
