These modifications include a well-lit, warm, calm and above all hygienic atmosphere with sufficient quantity of nutritious food, ventilation and comfortable bedding (Davies, 2012). After witnessing such dangerous situations where patients were receiving health care and their conditions were rapidly deteriorating, Nightingale fervently promoted hygiene techniques such as hand washing and bed changing. As a result of these adjustments, mortality rates for soldiers injured on the battlefields during the Crimean War decreased significantly, proving that infertility is a crucial component of health care (Hegge, 2013). According to Nightingale, people are multidimensional and composed of psychological, biological, spiritual, and social components that all need to be supported individually. Along with this ideal, she encourages both effective recovery as well as a peaceful passing due to her belief that everyone finds purpose in life, death, and suffering (Selanders & Crane, 2012). Florence Nightingale's nursing theory is essentially about manipulating a patient's environment to suit their needs, but doing so in the most rewarding aseptic way.
