Get the original essay Part Two – Compare and Contrast Starting with the national newspaper, I found the article itself to be longer than the BBC post. The US News article featured a mix of stories from people affected by the tornado and stated some general facts and news about what happened. The statements and descriptive language helped describe some of the images produced during the disaster. The article began with a photo of a woman holding her face and did not include photos throughout the article. Instead, it contained a 28-photo gallery containing unrelated images such as the inauguration, photos of the Oval Office, a wax figure of Trump, and other images that did not fit the issue at hand. Moving on to the international newspaper, I had the impression that the BBC had a shorter article. Instead of several sentences, it contained only one or two sentences citing some of the people affected and general information such as numbers, statistics and details of each tornado. Although this article was shorter, it included more photos from the event and a video showing the rubble of the affected homes. The description of the event was similar to each other, but in terms of how it was delivered, I would say the BBC one was easier to read than the US News article. The US News article provided more details but did not include many photos, unlike the BBC article. Both articles provide factual evidence of what happened as well as personal stories/quotes from those involved. I feel like the BBC provided more images than the US news because they don't just focus on one particular area, but on every country in the world. So having actual footage of the damage itself can let readers know what it looks like, as it may not have been covered in their local news. Overall, I prefer the BBC article because of its simplicity and images. Having these two qualities in an age where quick information is important as well as the images that accompany it, create an easily accessible article that everyone can understand and view. Part Three – Theory Implementation As I looked through the list of theories, I found that it was difficult to choose two that applied to this analysis.
