Essay / Cell Phones in School - 750
Many teachers believe that cell phones have no place in a classroom due to several disadvantages. An example might be that a student who uses a cell phone in class has no intention of listening or paying attention to the teacher. This student has a short attention span and is more concerned with socialization than his education. Cell phones can be very disruptive; they can invade people's privacy and can also be used for harassment or intimidation. The use of cell phones creates a huge problem, especially when used in school. When a cell phone rings in a classroom, not only does it disrupt the lesson, but it also breaks everyone's concentration. Students can use their cell phones to exchange work or answers during an exam or in class. Teachers want to see what level each student is at by giving them work and exercises to do, but if they don't try, they won't get far in life. It is scientifically proven that people over 30 cannot hear high-pitched sounds. That's why they deliberately created high-pitched ringtones for teenagers so that teachers couldn't hear them. Cell phones therefore allow students to cheat on exams, bully their classmates and call the wrong people. For these reasons, many teachers want to see cell phones banned in school or at least enforce a set of rules and regulations regarding the issue. On the other hand, having cell phones at school can also have benefits, such as emergency calls. Our parents should be able to feel safe knowing that they can check on their children by calling them at any time. And they come in handy when students are moving around or after school, such as for afternoon school activities or pick-up times. A parent's worst nightmare is not knowing where... middle of paper... it will cause intimidation and harassment.
