    It's Time to End Affirmative ActionAffirmative action is the set of public policies and initiatives designed to help eliminate past discrimination and present based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. This “body of public policy” has had quite a history that began with the Thirteenth Amendment, which made slavery illegal. The Thirteenth Amendment was followed by the Fourteenth, which guarantees equal protection under the law. Bringing up the rear is the Fifteenth Amendment, which prohibits racial discrimination in voting access. When affirmative action was implemented in the 1960s, it was necessary and absolutely necessary. Although historically the need for affirmative action is evident, it has reached the point where minorities enjoy unfair advantages. Although the public and the Supreme Court recognize the need to end affirmative action, the federal government continues to fund studies on the subject. It is not surprising that these studies, through statistical manipulation of data, conclude that affirmative action must continue. Statement of the Problem Since the beginning of affirmative action in the 1960s, its validity has been the subject of constant debate. We have reached the point where minorities receive preferential treatment, particularly in the areas of employment and education.
