  • Essay / Jeffrey Dahmer, The Milwaukee Cannibal - 1218

Criminal Behavior Analysis Paper: Jeffrey DahmerJeffrey Dahmer, described as a psychopath, sex offender and serial killer, was born in West Allis, Wisconsin on 21 May 1960. He was responsible for the serial murders of 17 young men between 1978 and 1991. He usually picked up his victims from a gay bar and had sex with them before killing them. In the summer of 1991, he began killing one person every week. He was arrested on July 22, 1991 when Tracy Edwards, a survivor and final victim, escaped and handed him over to police. Police arrested him after finding several gruesome objects, such as human skulls and bones, polished and stored in his apartment. Internal organs were discovered in the refrigerator and parts of them had been cannibalized. He is sometimes nicknamed the Milwaukee Cannibal or the Milwaukee Monster, because he committed cannibalism, rape, dismemberment, and necrophilia. What's interesting is that he was not only homosexual, but also necrophiliac. He was sentenced to a total of 957 years in prison and was incarcerated at the Columbia Correctional Center in Portage, Wisconsin. He has been attacked twice over time. The first attempt left him with simple neck injuries. The second attack caused by an inmate led to his death on November 28, 1994 (CrimeMuseum, 2014). Jeffrey Dahmer was a man and committed the first murder at the age of 18, in the summer of 1978. He had never married and was homosexual. He had an average socioeconomic status and was unsuccessful in both education and profession. He worked as a worker in a chocolate factory. He had a normal, happy childhood, unlike that of most serial killers. In his family interview with his child... middle of paper ...... new how to avoid detection and eluded them five times. Jeffrey Dahmer is not a typical serial killer, as he had neither the physical nor the childhood sexual abuse and low socioeconomic backgrounds that conventional serial killers represent. Professionals cannot give sufficient reasons to explain his numerous murders, since he was associated with all the elements of a serial killer. Unlike other serial killers who kill their victims and go in search of a new victim, his fantasies led him to commit a series of crimes against the corpse. He also liked to keep all body parts of victims, including brains and skulls, in the freezer. He would sometimes eat them and enjoy them. The most interesting thing was that he didn't seem like an abuser or a lawbreaker, even though he said he didn't like violence. However, he could not have any kind of relationship with a living person..
