Essay / Character Sketch of Scorpius Malfoy - 1147
Scorpius Malfoy is neither his father nor his grandfather. This is the first thing you need to know about him. If you're lucky, you'll learn more about him, but most people aren't that lucky. Scorpius is an intensely private person. Most people take one look at his aristocratic features, or just hear his last name, and think of him as the son of a Death Eater, a snob, a blood purist, a this or a that, and don't never bother to dig deeper. To be fair, all of these things are partly true, but these judgmental masses generally don't realize that there is much more to him than that. Scorpius is an introvert, his emotions extremely autonomous, exploding and fading so deep within him that they never come out unless he wants them to. His words are repeated, analyzed for consequences, and double-checked for accuracy and piquancy before they even leave his mouth. Everything about how it interacts with the outside world is controlled to allow it to manifest in a certain way. He is observant, more likely to stand back and judge the air of a room or the tone of a conversation before inserting himself into it with uncanny insight and the tacit implication that he knows more than 'he doesn't really want to say it. He is a true politician, the master of evasive answers, of the ability to think one thing and do another, of smiling in a room full of enemies as if he were in a room full of friends. The language he speaks best is body language, and he can tell by the slightest twitch of a muscle or movement of a hand whether everyone in a room is actually getting along or if they're just playing a prank. On the other hand, his body language always aims for ambiguity unless he has a goal set in the middle of paper......sometimes in the grass, used to fighting against the dirty but remaining clean. , by shaking the hand of a partner against whom he is secretly plotting and without even a detour to alert the other of his darkest intentions. Scorpius doesn't think he's incapable of getting anything if he wants it bad enough. He is an opportunist and a survivor for whom altruism or stupid mistakes are as inexcusable and incomprehensible as showing up naked to class. And just because he's currently neglected doesn't mean Scorpius hasn't stopped trying; after all, true power lies with those who have the respect, whether or not the distinction was granted at the same time. Scorpius may follow authority that is not his own, but he rarely finds himself respecting anyone other than himself. And one way or another, Scorpius Malfoy is going to rule this city..
