  • Essay / The Joy of Papermaking - 1423

It was a hot summer day and the east wind was sweeping across the Columbia River Gorge, carrying bits of trash forgotten on I-84. Traffic was heavier than usual for a Saturday morning; probably because the Columbia River attracted people to stay cool by swimming or boating. The forecast called for a temperature of 95 degrees; a smog advisory was also in effect. A family bike ride was on the agenda, but now that it was too hot, I decided to go to a stamp camp instead. As I headed to my friends' house for stamp camp, I anticipated the new card making techniques I would learn. She had also mentioned that we would be using new colors of cardstock, designer paper, and craft ink. A few blocks before arriving at her house, I turned off the air conditioning and rolled down all the windows. The warm breeze filled the interior of the car and shook my hair. As I turned the corner, the sun hit my arm and the side of my face and warmed my skin that had been cooled by the crisp air from the car's vents. For the remaining few blocks to his house, I drove with the windows down and enjoyed the warmth and wind. My mind drifted away from my relaxing card-making destination and I found myself not thinking about anything at all - it was very relaxing. When I pulled into the aisle, I realized I was the first to arrive. I greeted my friend and chose a place at the table. She informed me that we would only be doing five cards today instead of the normal seven because her two grandchildren were there visiting. One is worth five, the other is worth three; Cheri thought it would be a little distracting having the little ones there. It turned out to be no big deal, but I still saved five bucks, so that was a bonus. The first... middle of paper ...discount coupons are not used and guess what? You're stuck with two of them. Even though the coupons may not have been used, as a happy paper maker you leave the store elated anyway because not only did you find something on sale, you found something new paper, ink, embellishment or tools to use in your paper making. This will only bring you more relaxation and reduce the stress level in your life. Remember to find something that brings you peace and relaxation. Everyone needs to relax and feel distressed in the crazy busy world we all live in.ReferencesGinny (2010). Celebrate the journey.
