  • Essay / Analysis of a local nursery - 1286

This report analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of a local nursery listed on the Early Years Register and located in Derby, UK. It's called Happy Day Nurseries Ltd. This report is based on the inspection on 18/04/2015 and focuses on the quality and standards of early years provision, the early years provider's compliance in meeting children's needs and contribution to children's well-being and the effectiveness of the early years provider's leadership and management. The previous inspection, carried out in October 2014, was rated as good. It was brought forward due to concerns raised about a lack of curriculum planning and safety concerns and has been called inadequate as it fails to provide children with an acceptable standard of education. The inspector observed children and staff in each of the four nurseries and found inconsistencies in the delivery of the educational program across the nursery. The inspector found the planned activities uninspiring and failed to motivate the children. The 2012 statutory framework recommends that each area of learning and development should be delivered through planned, focused play and through a mixture of adult-led and child-initiated activities. Staff were found to do not consistently encourage children’s communication and language skills. younger children in particular. Due to a lack of communication in the toddler room, very young children have not learned the skills they need to continue their learning. Inconsistencies were noted in practice planning, delivery of educational programs and teaching in different rooms.
