  • Essay / Is art an art business? - 1202

Being in the art industry is something I always planned to pursue career-wise. Since I was in elementary school, it’s something I’ve been passionate about. I remember being so excited to doodle with crayons and paint with cheap Crayola watercolors. It is common for young children to participate in this activity. But soon after this stage, interest in art deteriorated and it became less relevant for some adolescents. However, personally, I continued to practice until a time came when I realized that art was what I wanted to do – for my career, my free time, and my life. Not only is the art branch of graphic design socially beneficial and includes exposure to diversity, it is always fresh, new and creative, but it is also one of the only things that makes me satisfied. In many animated works, many people and consumers are unaware of the extent to which research and travel are included. When a company makes a visual representation of a story that they cannot physically film, especially with films set in the past as well as in foreign countries, hours of intense research and review take place . In the 2014 Academy Award-winning Disney film Big Hero 6, technical supervisor Hank Driskill says his team took thousands and thousands of photos of landscapes, people, and architecture (Mufson). “We are great researchers here, we really like to do our homework” (Driskall). Says Driskall of the film's fictional town of San Fransokyo. The team also conducted extensive research into soft robotics, where one of the main characters is a robot. In order to bring this to life, co-director Don Hall visited the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University and collaborated with several professors to bring the character to life.In...... middle of paper.. ....The idea of using modern technology and creating a story with my own imagination and my own hands is what I want to do. It’s collaborative; I would be able to explore multiple cultures and travel the world to research and turn it into an art form. I would have experience with people, I would learn, I would draw all this and I would get paid a lot of money. I would never get bored, every day would be something different and receiving feedback from such a diverse audience would improve my skills. All of this is the source of my passion and, as Keane said, it makes me feel like a child. It would be difficult at times, but it's a job where you have to surpass yourself, and I wouldn't be bitter about it. I plan to enter an art and animation school and study people, movement, life and the world. It’s an idea that excites me and I can’t wait to see what this career has in store for me..
