Essay / Physical Effects of Verbal Abuse - 1668
Verbal abuse can lead to frequent mental breakdowns, meaning the victim will start doing unthinkable things, whether it's harming others, harm or act abnormally. Mental breakdowns will then turn into suicidal thoughts. Even if the victim does not commit suicide, it is still considered a psychological disorder. Panic disorder is another effect of verbal abuse, which causes the victim to have frequent panic attacks. A panic attack is triggered by the presence of the attacker or the idea of an argument taking effect. Unlike physical violence, the victim tends to make excuses for the abuser. The victim then takes responsibility for the reason for the abuse. It is unhealthy for the victim to think that it is their fault that they were hit, slapped, choked or pushed. Due to all the physical damage suffered by the victims, they develop sleep insomnia. Sleep insomnia is difficulty falling or staying asleep. It is common for physical abuse to occur at night, just before bed, so those who develop sleep insomnia think at any moment that they may be assaulted. Another psychological effect that people who are victims of physical abuse face is post-traumatic stress disorder. PTSD may include flashbacks, anxiety, or nightmares. The victim then does everything in their power to avoid any confrontation, situation or conversation with the person.
