Essay / The importance of companionship and marriage
School is free from five to twelve years of age and compulsory until the age of eighteen. If a student misses too many classes, a civilian employer will call the parents, as well as the student, to discuss the accident. If this incident appears to continue, the family will receive a hefty fine and receive temporary child support from the government. In extreme cases, a child may be placed in foster care if they continue to miss classes. Once the student graduates from primary school, the student is placed in one of four secondary schools based on a standardized test taken near the end of primary school. In all secondary schools, students will receive one to two years of basic education. Some students stay at this level and work in factories, supermarkets and parts departments. Once their basic education is completed, they can choose one of three streams; pre-vocational school, pre-university school or vocational school which can lead to university. High school begins around the age of thirteen, which some say is forcing people to choose what they want to do with their lives too young, according to Breukel.
