Biased Articles News articles can present information that is not true to make it more interesting. The writer usually has an opinion or point of view that he wants to put forward and convey to his readers, but he wants that opinion and point of view to appear to be fact. It’s a way to increase the audience of an article. It can also be a way for the writer to spread rumors and gossip. There is an important distinction between facts and opinions, and information should give us the truth, not lies. This is why it is very important not to just rely on what one article says, but also to be open-minded and read others. The first type of bias I discovered was selection and omission. This bias occurs when the author does not mention all the important points and only the one they want. The article shows this bias because it only suggests one possible reason why the plane could have disappeared. This reason was Islamic terrorism. The truth is that there are many reasons that could explain the disappearance of the plane. After more than a week, we still don't know why. The author could have been reasonable and mentioned other possible reasons. Comparing the two articles, article b mentioned how the plane could have disappeared due to mechanical problems, bombings and hijackings. This article was less biased because it explained several ways how he could have disappeared and it didn't specifically blame someone without actual facts to back it up. Another type of bias I found was bias by title. Title bias occurs when the author presents a hidden bias in the title. The title is where most people get an idea of what the article is telling us about. The title of this is "Malaysian Airli...... middle of paper ......d than others due to their hidden nature. Some articles give the impression that they are unbiased, even though they make some biased Some types of bias are harder to find; for example, selection and omission are harder to find if an article is one of the first reports on a topic. 've nothing to compare to make sure it makes sense or not Some articles don't have photos, so you can't tell they are photo biased. research is the point of view of the person writing the article. This article I chose shows why it is really important to go through an article to ask if it is biased or not. pages, I found more than three types of bias So we need to be careful not to trust something until we are sure it is not biased. also look for different perspectives elsewhere.
