Essay / not a sin, but a blessing - 696
“I wept for deliverance and pity for all mankind” (Rand 98). Prometheus realized that what he believed in was not a curse, but a blessing. Since Ayn Rand's novel "Anthem" takes place in a collective society, Prometheus's thought process about how he sought freedom and knew what individuality is was a "sin" and much more different from his society. , but he embraced it and believed in himself through his courage and bravery. He believes that being an individual should not be illegal. He believes and knows that being independent is good for the mind, but in the name of collectivism, society does not know or believe in the word "I" and considers belief in individuality as a sin. In Greek mythology Prometheus and Epimtheus, Prometheus was the God of fire and who brought fire back to life to save the people. The fellow citizens of the people in Greek myth can be compared to the Union 5-3992 and the Brotherhood 2-5503; Both the Union and Brotherhood symbolize the other brothers in society and on the other hand, the difference between the brothers in society and Prometheus shows the audience that Prometheus is much more intelligent and different from his society's point of view . Looking back reading his books held in his hands, Prometheus realizes that all the sacrifices and risks he took and being whipped and executed by his company were both worth fighting to bring light in his world. The Unspeakable Word also known as the Saint of the Pyre, believed in the word “I” while society does not know the word “I”. Scholars, leader and “dictator” of society, believe that the word should never be uttered in the middle of a paper… but we should not think like that. Because they live in a "communist society", meaning there is a leader and he has the right to take away men's rights, Prometheus's belief in standing up for oneself was more important and more just, but considered a crime when it should have been a blessing. Not everything Prometheus did was accepted in the society he lived in. Prometheus did not believe in the slang of “One for all and all for one”. Out of pity for his brothers, he himself knew that being independent is not a sin. It may be a sin in the dark, cold, bitter place of society, but in reality it was not a sin. Prometheus, as leader, heir, creator – an individual – realized on many occasions that “the best in him”. "It was the best he had and he didn't consider being alone and loving himself a sin. He considered it a blessing.
