Many of these documents tell us in a very eccentric way about the different struggles of this period. There are many different stories about inexplicable phenomena and family problems that occurred during these periods. However, they have been explained and spoken of as works of gods, fate and bad omens; these anomalies are further explained by scientific discoveries and analytical research through the texts. The play King Oedipus, written by Sophocles, presents various situations explained at that time as a curse on the earth by an evil deed or an unexplained death. There is also a very complex connection between how fate and religious views help characters make decisions throughout the storyline. New character traits form from these decisions, such as the Oedipus complex that arises from this story. Pride and hubris were very interesting topics in the stories of this era. This was the work of the gods to make an example of the heroes whose pride brings them to their knees. In Oedipus the King, the curse of poverty...... middle of paper ...... Jocasta and Oedipus. These types of lessons are why stories like these have lasted for centuries.
