Personal GrowthThis semester I am taking six courses and a laboratory for a total of nineteen credit hours. The courses I take are: English, history, geography, reading, educational psychology and physics with a laboratory. I expect to receive all A's and two B's; one in physics and one in geography. If these are the grades I end up getting for the semester, then I should have a 3.63 GPA for the semester. I did my best to make sure I understood all the material in each of my classes and stayed on top of all my homework and classwork. There were many times when I stayed after class to talk to the teacher about what was going on so as not to fall behind. I learned from previous classes that if you fall behind early, it's almost impossible to catch up. I would have liked to get an A in the two classes I got a B in, but I know I did my best. I'm actually quite proud of the B in physics because all my friends and everyone I know in the class got a C or a D. However, I think I could have gotten an A in physics and geography if I had taken fewer credit hours because I could have spent more time on each course. Thanks to EDP 101 and EDP 490, I wouldn't say I'm phenomenal at self-management, but I'm pretty close. In EDP 101, we had to maintain a yellow planner. This little thing changed my life simply because we had to return it every week. My calendar is now my lifeline. It contains everything from due dates, work schedules to doctor appointments; I never miss anything. With this small adjustment, I found myself using my time more wisely. I'm so glad I took EDP 101 last year because balancing 19 credit hours and all the homework that comes with it... in the middle of a sheet of paper... a great try for me. I will use what I learned during this time for future reference. For example, if I'm teaching something and everyone gets it wrong on a test, I'll have to re-evaluate myself and the way I teach. I might even have to find another way to teach it. I also learned a trick that I will use with my students one day; to take notes on what they missed and why they missed it. Of course it may take longer, but some students are afraid to talk to teachers at first, so by doing this they won't always need to talk to me, but if they feel I'm wrong in their grade , maybe they will have the courage to approach me. I really want to teach students the importance of keeping a planner, not only because it has helped me stay organized, but also because it has helped me in general. I want students to get the most out of my course.
