Essay / Temperament and Personality Traits - 1116
TemperamentsTemperaments are something we are all born with. They display personality traits such as attitudes, personal values and talents. We cannot change our temperament. It's what makes us who we are. We should be grateful that God has given us different temperaments. A temperament is the combination of innate traits that unconsciously affect human behavior. Each temperament has its strengths, its challenges, its qualities and its faults. The four temperaments are melancholic, phlegmatic, choleric and sanguine. The four temperaments originate from ancient times. They were originally called the four humors. We are created in the image of God. “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; the male and the female created it. God gave you your temperament for a specific purpose. God has a plan and purpose for our lives, so be grateful that God created you the way He did. The first temperament is melancholy. Melancholic people are sensitive and introverted perfectionists. They have unrealistic standards for themselves and others. They want things to be a certain way, and when they don't, they get anxious. Many people with a melancholic temperament want to understand the details of everything in life. The reason is that to be uninformed is to stray from perfection. They assume the worst possible situation. They are very pessimistic people. They usually ask very specific questions. They do this to have a clear understanding of the subject. If something goes wrong, they won't be able to leave the situation as it is. When they argue, they defend the situation and not themselves. They also plan before acting. They do not make impulsive and rash decisions. They complain a lot. Not in a demanding way rather middle of paper......myself included I have an impulsive side. Peter Cuts off the ear of an attacker following Christ's betrayal. Who else but a sanguine like Peter to ask to walk on water with the Lord. Overall, I see myself and Simon Pierre similar in many ways. We react to situations the same way. God has blessed us both with a sanguine temperament. As God used Peter, He will use me. With God's guidance and influence, I can bear fruit just as Peter did. Whether you are melancholic, phlegmatic, choleric or sanguine. Whatever your temperament, be grateful that God has blessed you. This is what separates us from each other. If we were all the same, the world would be a boring place. God gave us different personalities for a reason. We are all part of His grand design and plan. So the next time you wish you were different, remember that you are perfect in God's eyes..
