The general public should watch movies to gain historical knowledge because it will allow them to gain new information by just watching a movie. Although many films contain historical inaccuracies, it is always better for a person to acquire a little new knowledge than to acquire none. Film producers and writers should not have an obligation to provide factually accurate films because their number one goal is entertainment and money. Producers will always focus on entertainment because that's the point of watching a movie, rather than focusing on something that doesn't provide entertainment. Even though films may contain historical inaccuracies, individuals can still enjoy films because they provide entertainment and a chance to gain a little knowledge. Even if the films contain minor historical errors, individuals, for the most part, can still learn and appreciate the main historical ideas from the films. Although some films like Django Unchained should not be watched to gain historical knowledge, there are many other films that should still be watched to gain historical knowledge.
