In the field of human rights, issues related to globalization are the subject of numerous debates. Some argue that globalization is a scourge that destroys the world's unique and multifaceted cultures; while others argue that it propagates universal ideals, such as the concept of human rights. Regional organizations are part of the idea of ​​globalization by creating unifying links between nations; share values, commercial exchanges and promote a strengthened identity. The two best-known and most influential regional organizations are the European Union (EU) and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Although these two organizations are the largest, they have inspired many smaller organizations; a process that increased the liberalization of international trade (Ardalan, 2). Regional organizations are distinct from ideas of supranational government or nation-state formation, although common policies can be implemented through the application of treaties; each state ultimately retains governmental control (Ardalan, 5). Regional organizations refer to organizations that span across regional areas, they often have close ties to political and economic areas and can influence member states within their borders. Globalization refers to both a process and an outcome, created by the sharing of internationally shared values ​​and technological advances.
