Essay / TBP1 Task 4: Bullying - 1200
Bullying is a serious problem and has harmful effects that could lead to depression, anxiety and, worst of all, suicide. Becoming a bully takes a long process, and with the help of parents, schools, communities and social media, bullying and harassment can be prevented. Parents and schools play an important role in combating bullies. Research indicates that “families of bullies lack warmth and closeness and focus on power and dominance.” (1) To prevent bullying, parents, school staff and all adults have a role to play. Help children who are bullied understand that it is unacceptable behavior and to resist it. Communication is always key. Adults must listen to children, know what is happening around them, from their friends, from school and understand their concerns. Encourage children to develop their interests and hobbies, this will build their confidence and help them make friends. Bringing parents and children together is a great way to prevent and protect against bullying..
