Since the beginning of the Internet, the government has not been interested in regulating the Internet. I know for a fact that people need to step up and help change what the government is not doing. Internet regulation is what people need to navigate the Internet easily. Many people would live safer and more secure lives as a result. In the business world, online products must be told the truth and nothing else to avoid misleading consumers. Claims made in an email advertisement, on a website, or in an article designed to attract others to the website must be true and not imply that the product or service or anything you are selling can do something it can't do or give bad results. Additionally, companies cannot pose as spam and modify themselves to misrepresent people. Spam and lies about business can lead to disastrous situations. This can lead to theft, identity theft, etc. The Internet is just as dangerous as in real life. Too many people think they are safe enough to do anything and pursue whatever they want. All it takes is one click and something very bad can happen to you or others. The government is missing out on all the spam and online crime. They don't regulate anything or what's important online. People fall for spam and lie in emails and on sites that are not trusted! Identity theft happens online all the time because people always have no idea and never pay attention to what's happening. Regulation truly benefits society, but it can sometimes affect the way people express themselves online. What people can't say in person, they usually want to say online, but regulations don't monitor most cases of cyberbullying and people should be able to stop what others say. People should be able to delete mean comments that are aimed at the world to avoid something that puts their life in danger, like someone wanting to commit suicide. Suicide is a HUGE reason why social media should be regulated more, because what people say online can completely change someone's life. Internet regulation is overall a very secure method of the Internet. Regulation can save people from many situations, but it can also prevent them from reading anything good. The Internet really needs more regulation in all its aspects. People have other lives online and regulation can do a lot to protect their lives.
