There are three types of benefits. These benefits include: local economy benefits, business benefits, and worker benefits. The local economy benefits in several ways. Some of these benefits are reduced poverty rates, less reliance on social services, increased consumer spending, and increased support for businesses. The business benefits include: increased turnover rates, improved quality of service and reduced administrative costs. Workers benefit from the living wage movement because they tend to have increased job satisfaction, move out of poverty, and they also benefit from increased education and health care. Almost all living wages apply to businesses that receive government contracts. According to the census, most low-wage workers are actually adults over the age of 20.
