  • Essay / Scholarship - 684

The expectation that a student must meet to receive scholarships is to be involved in community activities and service and to be a kind and cooperative person with others. I am that kind of person with those qualities. My overall life experience has been difficult because there have been difficult times in my life. One of my difficult life experiences was when I was hit by a 3,000 pound vehicle. It was a Saturday evening when I decided to go cycling; I enjoy the outdoors in the summer. The driver of the vehicle did not look both ways when he hit me. Because of this accident, I broke my ankle and knee. I learned that life is difficult and important and that I shouldn't take advantage of it. I am currently an active student who gets involved in community service every year. Two clubs I participate in are the KEY Club and the Madera Academic Youth Association Club. These two clubs that I am involved in are clubs that help my school and the community in which I live. We run a soup kitchen in a hall called Griffin Hall on certain days of the month, which is a place where members feed the poor. I believe we should go and help those who need it. LOVE MADERA is an event where Madera citizens can calibrate together as a community and volunteer. This year I volunteered at Millview Elementary School where I helped clean, paint and plant flowers. I also help my church, Yosemite Christian Center, with cleaning and child care so their parents can attend the service. Because of my ability to work and share with others, I am an ideal student for a scholarship. My future career goal is to become an accountant in a business, non-profit organization, accounting firm, or for the government. I see myself preparing... middle of paper ...... for my family, I need to graduate from college and establish a successful career. The scholarships will definitely help me with tuition and school supplies. Not only will this help me pay my tuition, but it will also be one less burden on my mother. I am Mexican-American and I will be the first to attend a university like Fresno State. I am first generation and have high hopes of graduating from college and becoming successful in life. I also have two older sisters who weren't able to go to college because of some problems life threw at them. Another reason why I want to attend a university like Fresno State is because I have three siblings younger than me and I want to show them that college is very important in life. By attending college and earning a degree, I will show my younger brother that they too can attend college and achieve a successful career..
