The Lord of the Flies by William Golding is a fiction novel highlighting the natural characteristics of man. The book was created after World War II. Before creating this novel, William had an experience in the Navy where he learned about the nature of humanity. The book's introduction describes a plane crash where a large group of boys become stranded on an island. Here their character grows and their human instincts such as leadership, brutality and survival are displayed. Under the influence of the combination of his education and military experience, William Golding wrote one of the most powerful books on the truth or survival nature of humanity. Born on September 19, 1911, in an English town known as Saint Columb Minor, Cornwall, England, Sir William Gerald Golding grew up in a house adjacent to a cemetery. Her mother, named Mildrid, was a suffragette who championed women's right to vote. Suffragettes were members of women's organizations in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in England and the United States. His father, Alex, was the headmaster of Marlborough Grammar School where William attended school. At this point in his life, William already had a penchant for writing. At the age of 12, William attempted, unsuccessfully, to write his first novel. Disheartened by his failures, William resorted to bullying his peers to express his frustration. When asked about his childhood actions, he described them as enjoyable. After his primary school years, William continued his studies at Brasenose College, Oxford University.
