Is Ed Gein a serial killer or murderer? The rule is that you have to kill 3 or more people at different times. Ed Gein officially killed 2 women and that in a short period of time, but officially that does not make him a serial killer. Although he dug up bodies and did unspeakable things with them, they were already dead. So why is he considered an iconic serial killer? Why was this man the basis for so many horror films, if he wasn't even known in the country at the time of his crimes? Most serial killers are feared, known and sometimes idolized for their sprees, but this man went unnoticed for many years.
