With the popularity of film culture seeing a drastic increase, much of what happens on screen is reflected in our society. Movies can evoke thoughts and emotions that shape the ideals of the average person, sometimes even fanning propaganda that pressures governments to create new laws. All over the world, watching movies started as a haven for the working class, but slowly the ideas presented on screen evolved, which resulted in the movie becoming almost religious. Movies have the ability to leave us speechless because of their ability to give us a glimpse of a dream, no matter how unrealistic it may be. I'm a big fan of the film industry myself. I began to feel a certain respect for him because he made me dream and gave birth to my ambitions. This ultimately led me to do some in-depth investigation to find out if I was the only one who felt this way and what effects were created because of this feeling.INSIGHT:The United States of America:The Evolution of American Cinema can be classified into four main categories: silent cinema, classic Hollywood cinema, new Hollywood and the contemporary period in which we currently find ourselves. During the early 20th century, many Eastern European Jewish immigrants were able to find work in the American film industry and eventually migrated to the production side of the film business to become some of the biggest producers, such as The Warner Brothers. During the 1920s and 1930s, seventy-five percent of all Americans went to the movies at least once a week. Indeed, it was the time of the Great Depression (1930s), when unemployment was at high levels and money was tight. Thus forcing Americans to adopt a positive attitude... middle of paper ... prohibiting inter-caste marriages. This has also been depicted in films. Most often, the protagonists end up together or both commit suicide. It is these ideas that sometimes convey a bad image of Indian society. By promoting ideas of caste, people may be influenced to do the same in real life, which can result in a whole range of situations. People may run away from home or even commit suicide because they are not allowed to be with whoever they want. Another major problem we face today in Bollywood cinema is the idea of a “girl object/song”. An object girl is usually dressed in revealing/suggestive clothing in which she gyrates to fast music in a vulgar manner. The object girl was created as a product of the theory that sex sells. Which turns out to be largely true in the industry, as seen in films such as Jism, Ragini mms and Hate Story..
