Essay / The Martin Luther King Jr. and Benjamin Elijah Mays...
Ambitions and aspirations constantly motivate us through life and the challenges we encounter daily. Our deepest desires give us the strength and inspiration to achieve our goals. Ambitions in our lives usually come from something we have experienced during our lives. Two examples of great leaders are Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Dr. Benjamin Elijah Mays. Dr. King and Dr. Mays dedicated their lives to fighting racial discrimination and fighting for social equality. Dr. King and Dr. Mays had a vision of a better world. They both identified difficult societal problems and struggled to find solutions to those problems. Martin Luther King Jr. spent much of his life advocating for civil rights and social justice. Dr. King believed that African Americans should have equality and that segregation should end. His ambition was for all African Americans to have the same opportunities as all other Americans. Dr. King was extremely passionate about his ambition. His passion and dedication to achieving racial equality was demonstrated in his speeches and letters such as I have a Dream and Letter from a Birmingham Jail. For example, in Letter from a Birmingham Jail, Dr. King states: “But when you saw vicious mobs lynching your mothers and fathers at will and drowning your sisters and brothers at will; when you saw hate-filled police officers curse, kick, brutalize and even kill your black brothers and sisters with impunity..." Dr. King vividly describes the instances of racial hatred and injustice upon which the African Americans are regularly confronted. Dr. King's ambition to end repugnant racial hatred was rooted in his experiences with racial hatred. Our goals almost always develop from past experiences, and these goals somehow appear in our thoughts amidst the exhaustion of our busy daily lives. Dr. King saw a mistake in the world and was motivated to fix it. Just like Dr. King, I also have a dream, which is to make technology easier and cheaper for people in third world countries. Being born and raised in a third world country devoid of technology, I realized the importance of technology and how it can benefit a society. Technology is already a huge part of our daily lives in the United States, and it's expanding every moment. Citizens of developed countries take this for granted, but citizens of third world countries live with little or no technology..
