I come from the ancestry of Cain. According to the Bible, Cain is known to Christians as the first to commit murder. I was isolated from humans because I came from a cursed lineage. I couldn't change Hereots' perception of me as an evil monster. I did not prefer to belong to the line of Cain. People thought I was evil because I came from the lineage of Cain and therefore they considered me an outcast and did not want to associate with me. Beowulf asked his people to sing loudly during the king's festivities to attract me. The noise coming from the golden halls of Hereot irritated and angered me. I was annoyed because I couldn't join the Hereot and celebrate the king's day with them. Everyone was happy and I couldn't stand it since I couldn't join in the celebration.
