  • Essay / My Goals as a Teacher - 719

As a teacher, I play a vital role in supporting the growth, development and learning of each child. I believe that all types of development should be included in the early childhood curriculum and that they are all equally important. For social development, I will incorporate group work and group activities into my classroom and encourage my students to talk to their peers when they need help with something. For physical development, I will have many "puzzles" throughout the day that will encourage the children to be active for a few minutes and do jumping jacks, hop on one foot, etc. and I will also encourage my students to be active during their playtime. I believe that being active is very important for development and is a very effective medicine for the brain. To promote cognitive development, I will use an interactive learning environment that includes: practice, technology, group work as well as many critical thinking strategies. For emotional development, I will ensure that all my students know that they are important and create a strong bond with them. I believe it is very important to have a welcoming environment in an early childhood environment where all students feel welcome and everyone is compassionate, caring, kind and friendly towards everyone.
