The day Columbus' troop landed on this Caribbean island, a vast cultural development gained momentum. It was on this date that the first meeting between Europe and the Americas took place. Hispanic Day is an actively celebrated holiday that grew out of the European desire for goods from Asia. This had many consequences on how the history of Spain was formed, and today it is a very important celebration.
