Essay / The Bible and Understanding the Scriptures - 812
The Bible and Understanding the ScripturesThe Bible is God's word to his people. Christians are taught to read and study the Bible daily. A new person in the body of Christ would understand reading and study just as one reads an ordinary book or study material. Christians often do not learn to read and study, but they internalize reading and study as memorizing the Bible, because most Christians can remember God's word without a complete understanding of Scripture. When Christians learn the history of the Bible and how the Bible should be interpreted, they will be able to understand the message God is giving them. Understanding the Bible has been written as an entire literary book that will reveal all the messages of the Bible. A reader of the Bible can fully understand the words of Scripture; once the foundations of interpretation and the forms of different types of literature are understood with a solid form of Bible translation available. Sometimes Christians are misinterpreted by pastoral leaders who defer the true meaning of the Bible in favor of the unbiblical truths they teach. Christians must ask God for wisdom to understand the literary work of the Bible and discernment to accept a correct interpretation or timidly...... middle of paper ...... are gifted must begin with a solid foundation. If people continue to foolishly teach the Scriptures, those who wish to become Christians may not be convinced to follow inconsistent doctrine. The inconsistency has nothing to do with God's word, but rather lack of work and effort to understand Scripture. Reading the epistles can be difficult for several reasons. I think the biggest problem is cultural relativity. Often, human traditions, culture, and beliefs interfere with Scripture and cause confusion among everyone involved. The epistles were not written for the people of today's world. The writer and reader could communicate with each other because they were in the same time period. When reading the Bible, the reader must be concerned with what it contains with certainty; that is, understand what the Scripture says and not read between the lines.
