Essay / Mary Shelley's Frankenstein - How Victor's Creation...
How Victor's Creation Became a Monster in Frankenstein Mary W. Shelley's name somehow lies behind the fame of her best-known work, Frankenstein. The story of Frankenstein has survived the years without being forgotten, while the name of Mary Shelley is unknown to the general public. Following the plot of her own story, Mary Shelley is, in a way, the “victim” of her creation. Frankenstein can be seen as the story of a terrible monster who threatens society. The purpose of this essay is to illustrate that it was actually society that made Frankenstein a monster. Victor Frankenstein is a young and eminent student who decides to break the boundaries between life and death. His desire will drive him to work hard, even falling seriously ill, to achieve something no one has achieved before: life after death. He devotes himself to this unique quest: "I was thus engaged, heart and soul, in the same quest" (p.59) but everything changes when he sees his creation for the first time: "How can I describe my emotions in the face of this disaster ?" and “I saw the wretch – the wretched monster that I had created” (p.62 and 63). From this moment on, the new creation is identified as a monster, and precisely as will be treated throughout history, not only by a cruel and intolerant society, but by its creator, Victor, who rejects him since the beginning. Frankenstein, to me, is the sad story of those who are shaped by hostility, who spend their lives running from hatred and searching for something. called happiness. It's the story of a... middle of paper ......th purest creature on earth?"(p.210)The monster has realized its threat: is this the response to an indifferent Victor who could have stopped everything from the beginning but who now pays the highest price: seeing those he loves killed by his own creation Victor is, with his decisions, the culprit of every murder: that's it. He was the one who decided to create human beings, but couldn't be responsible for it and he could have stopped the deaths by creating a mate for his monster, instead he broke a promise by knowing them. consequences. Finally, I would like to say that Frankenstein is the story of a stupid man who pretended to be God, who failed but never took responsibility for what he had done. those who are always looking for love and wondering if life is worth it..
