The term “consciousness” as it can be defined is the state in which a person is conscious or conscious of his own being, existence, thoughts , one’s feelings as well as one’s environment (Consciousness, 2014). ). It is often observed that human beings tend to ignore the fact that consciousness is apparent in their existence. It has always been assumed that it is the brain that leads to the production of consciousness in an individual. In this case, the brain has been largely associated with the mind. Although several studies have been conducted to try to determine the relationship between consciousness and the brain, it was difficult to find direct evidence that could imply that the brain and consciousness are the same. Rather, one might conclude that the functioning of human consciousness can extend beyond the brain or body. We cannot therefore say that the two are identical (Dossey, 2009). So, even though the brain and consciousness cannot be considered the same, there is a relationship between the two, which is the main focus of this particular study. Researchers found that the two were closely related to each other. The activities of the brain influence and determine the level of consciousness of an individual. And this is the reason why an individual's consciousness and personality can be affected when the brain is damaged. The fact is that there are two aspects or points of view of researchers regarding the relationship between the brain and the consciousness of human beings. One aspect believes that consciousness is a special activity of the brain, while others contradict such a theory (Psi, n.d.). Although it is commonly accepted that consciousness depends on the functioning of the brain, philosophers and researchers... ... middle of paper ......ss to go beyond the brain and the powers of the imagination; however, the study achieved a close relationship between consciousness and the brain. This relationship has been supported by several theories developed over the years by a significant number of researchers, although few of them have been discussed in this study. Researchers may discover that electronic signals and neuron activities have the power to connect history and past events to human emotions and current situations to make them conscious in their actions. Even the dreams that humans have while sleeping could be achieved through the actions in the brain that are activated during sleep due to the REM sleep that individuals experience in most cases. It can therefore be concluded from the study that consciousness significantly depends on the brain and its activities..
