    South Africa is a third world country due to lack of education, unemployment, poverty, disease and an unstable government. South Africa is located at the southern tip of Africa. The discovery of diamonds and gold in 1867 and 1886 caused immigration causing the suppression of the natives. The British, Afrikaners, and Boers together formed the ruling Union of South Africa in 1910. In 1915, Afrikaner nationalists formed an all-white government known as the "National Party" which began governing the country. South Africa in 1948. The National Party then created a policy known as apartheid which was a system that formed laws that separated the races, causing chaos and unrest for the black population. In 1950, the "African National Congress" (ANC) led a movement called the "Campaign of Defiance" launching the fight against apartheid with the help of the "South African Indian Congress", the "Congress of Colored Peoples" and the “Congress of Democrats”. According to an article on the struggle against apartheid, more than 8,000 trained volunteers were imprisoned for defying unjust laws, failing to carry issued passes, violating curfews set for the African population and trespassing. in prohibited places designated for a specific breed.
