The American Revolution was not about this idea, but it was about money. Money comes into play in both scenarios. There was not enough money for the French and the monarchs lived the high life. This was not the case in America, but England taxed Americans unfairly. These were different issues, but both were related to economics. And even if there are marked differences, it was the Enlightenment movement that would change everything and align these two struggles.
