As fast food is high in calories and low in nutritional value, its continued consumption has the greatest impact on the digestive and cardiovascular systems. Developing adolescent bodies cannot handle the added stress of nutrient filtration breakdown and can lead to high blood sugar, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and weight gain (Pietrangelo). These factors are “among the leading risk factors for heart disease and stroke” (Pietrangelo). The expensive effects of fast food on the body are a good indicator that it should not be consumed.
