Housed in a mid-19th century Greek church, the Karpeles Manuscript Library in Charleston is one of only a handful scattered throughout the United States. These libraries highlight determinations drawn from the world's largest accumulation of private original copies, which incorporate reports from artisans, arrangers, adventurers, researchers, political pioneers, religious figures and others socially and generally critical individuals. The display in each zone changes four times a year. On one visit you might see letters composed by Eva Perón or John Adams - and on another visit you might see religious treatises by John Calvin or Martin Luther; or perhaps logical studies by some semblance of Galileo, Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin or Albert Einstein; or musical arrangements made by figures such as Ludwig von Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart or Richard Wagner. The large 1850s Greek Revival church that houses the gallery is worth visiting alone, but add to that the valuable reports on the interior compositions that make it perfect for those who are authentic about history. It was a pleasant visit.
