Need Line is the nonprofit agency of the Murray-Calloway County community and church ministry. The organization meets basic human needs. The organization helps community members experiencing poverty, homelessness and neglect. In March 1974, Need Line opened its doors to the community for the first time. Need Line's goal was to help members of the Murray community make ends meet. The organization provides community members in need with pantry foods. Need Line is a food pantry that provides low-income people with the bare essentials. An example would be the organization giving the client a bag of USDA food. The bag of food will contain green beans, corn, as well as a packet of toilet paper, soap and two packets of rice. The organization provides much more than pantry items to those losing their SES income. Need Line provides assistants with rental bills, utility bills and medical bills. The purpose of Need Line is to inform the Murray-Callow community about the basic human needs of the county. As well as providing Murray-Calloway families with the basic necessities they need. Economic conditions are holding back the citizens of Murray-Calloway. Citizens of Murray-Calloway could be at risk of losing their jobs, creating demand for Need Line. Members of the Murray-Calloway community depend on the organization to help them make ends meet. The organization provides a free dinner to the community at the local church every Sunday. The organization provides short-term assistance to members of the Murray-Calloway community. Need Line is unable to reward Murray-Callow citizens with cash donations. Need Line helps a large portion of the community in Murray, Kentucky. The organization addresses the basic needs of low-income families. Each holiday, the organization distributes Easter baskets, holiday turkeys and hams. Organizations similar to Need Line are needed in every community.
