The sun is the center of the solar system, the great star in the sky, created by God to show off its beauty and power. Everything revolves around the sun, from the planets to people's daily lives. Some of the largest planets created by God are Earth and Jupiter; These are two key planets in the solar system, but they are both quite different. Jupiter is the planet of disproportions and storms that would tear the Earth into pieces. On Jupiter there are hurricanes larger than planet Earth itself, moons that could be called planets if they were not in Jupiter's orbit, and one so large that it can swallow comets entire with only ripples in the planet's clouds. Jupiter is different from Earth in many ways. To begin with, Jupiter is a very unique planet in many ways due to its gravity, size, time difference, and nicknames. First, its day is different from Earth's. Earth's day lasts twenty-four hours, but "Jupiter's day lasts nine hours and fifty-five minutes." (Lawrence O. Richards, 20) Second Jupiter is also the largest planet in the solar system. It is so immense that it “can hold thousands of balls the size of the Earth” (Lawrence O. Richards, 20) and some call it “the king of the planets”. (Lawrence O. Richards 20) Third Jupiter is also the name of the king of the Roman gods; The ancient Romans named Jupiter after their chief god because it was the largest star in the sky. But “despite Jupiter’s large size, its gravity is only 2.63 times greater than that of Earth.” (Lawrence O. Richards, 20) Fourth, without Jupiter's gravity, the entire planet would be floating in space as a giant gas cloud that could cover most of our solar system. “Jupiter is like a giant protective mother of the Earth.” (Jeannie K.
