Beyond just legalizing same-sex marriage everywhere, the debate is interesting and both sides have valid arguments. It ranges from opposition to God's will, to gay couples raising children, and to the contradictions of opening doors to relationships unknown to others. Furthermore, not allowing two individuals to marry whomever they wish is to take away their civil rights. Finally, standing up for themselves and wanting to get married is huge, because coming out is probably the hardest thing for them. Against the Will of God: When it comes to same-sex marriage and religion, conversations tend to erupt, because apparently in the Bible it says that, "If a man lies with a man as with a woman , both have committed an abomination; they will surely be put to death; their blood is on them” (Leviticus 20:13). But marriage is an obligation that does not necessarily need to be celebrated in a church. People generally get married at the courthouse mainly because it is convenient for them. But since the First Amendment protects freedom of religion and free speech from government interference, why, when it comes to same-sex marriage, can government and religion raise their voices to transform a beautiful thing in abomination. the government is getting involved and it is because of the Bible that they are so touchy about same sex marriage. Hypocrisy arises when the Bible is presented because since people feel so uncomfortable looking at a gay couple they should lose their rights because it is clearly stated in the Bible that this is about a horrible act.
